Role & Personal Contribution
Solo Full-Stack Developer — Built authentication, Firestore persistence, Gemini question and feedback generation, the Vapi voice interview flow, and the dashboard and feedback pages (all 16 commits).
The Operational Problem
Job candidates need repeatable interview practice and clear feedback on communication, technical knowledge, problem-solving, and confidence.
The Engineered Solution
Users generate role-specific interview questions, complete a browser voice interview, and receive AI-generated scores, strengths, improvement areas, and a final assessment.
Engineering Architecture & Decisions
Next.js App Router with separate auth and authenticated route groups, server actions in lib/action, split Firebase client and admin modules, and client-side Vapi orchestration in components/Agent.tsx.
Firebase ID tokens are exchanged for one-week HTTP-only session cookies and verified with Firebase Admin. Layouts redirect unauthenticated users to sign-in.
Cloud Firestore with users, interviews, and feedback collections. Zod validates auth forms and AI feedback output.
Coordinating Vapi call events, transcript collection, question generation, feedback creation, and navigation across asynchronous states.
Decision: Used Vapi for the live voice conversation and Gemini through the Vercel AI SDK for question generation and structured scoring. This separates concerns but adds several external services to manage.
Delivered: End-to-end flow from sign-up through voice interview to a scored feedback page, with interview history on the dashboard.
